We’re pleased to announce that the necessary maintenance works to Rajang’s Forest are now complete and the building is accessible to visitors again.
Back in April 2024, we experienced severe damage to the roof of our indoor orangutan habitat, from a storm which involved winds of up to 50mph. During this time, we were forced to close the orangutan habitat to assess the extent of the damage and make repairs.
Temporary repairs were made in order to reopen the area as soon as possible. However, these repairs were only provisional, and therefore it was necessary for us to close the building to permanently fix the roof of Rajang’s Forest. The roof is a fully openable roof allowing us to assist with the temperature control of the habitat, therefore not quite a straight forward repair.

This maintenance involved extensive scaffolding in order to replace the roof. Unfortunately, this was not a quick fix and was estimated to take around 6 weeks to complete. We’re pleased to be able to open this earlier than expected after our Maintenance Team completed the works ahead of schedule.
We are very sorry that visitors were unable to see our trio of orangutans during the repair period but we’re pleased to reopen ahead of the summer holidays and hope you will visit Tiga, Mali and Tatau on your next adventure at CZS.

We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding whilst this work took place.
