Over the last month, our team have been redeveloping our Colenso Village habitat to provide an updated and improved walkthrough for animals and visitors in mind.

New Shelters

Two new shelters have been built to provide our goats and sheep some additional areas to shelter from the weather. One of the shelters is also a higher platform which helps keep our goats active and agile.

Wider Pathways

Larger concreted areas have been added along the pathway to reduce congestion with visitors. This also allows the keepers to lay weighing scales on a flat surface when carrying out regular health checks.

New Hay Racks

New 360 degree hay racks have been added to the walkthrough, along with a number of other improved enrichment items. These updated hay racks offer a bigger space for the goats and sheep to feed whilst also allowing more animals to feed at the same time.

Higher Fencing

The fencing along some of the walkthrough has been extended higher to offer some more privacy for our group of goats and sheep when they are seeking shelter and a quiet rest area.

We will also be installing updated signage in the near future to inform visitors about the goats and sheep that live here but also the area of Colenso and it’s relevance to CZS.

Be sure to pop by our updated Colenso Village walkthrough located at our Familiar Friends area of the Zoo on your next visit!
