Colchester Zoological Society offers memorable nursery school trips in Essex, giving early years children the opportunity to discover wildlife through exploration and play.
There are no bookable school sessions suitable for nursery age children.
Nurseries and other EYFS groups are welcome to visit Colchester Zoological Society for an exciting early years educational day out. While we do not offer pre-bookable nursery sessions, there are plenty of opportunities for young earners to enjoy animal encounters, sensory experiences and interactive activities throughout the zoo.
We offer a range of Zoo Keeper Animal Talks across the day that nurseries are welcome to attend. These take place at the animal enclosures and may include the keepers feeding the animals, providing them with toys or even training.
Nursery groups can also meet animals up close.
Your EYFS group can get close to animals around the zoo. Drop in a at set times (see the sign at the building for details) at Sensation Station to meet some of our animals up close. You can also stroke or feed other animals in the ‘Familiar Friends’ Farm section of the zoo (see signs at the animals to check which animals you can stroke/feed). Our Australian Rainbows walkthrough also has options for hand-feeding the lorikeets. All of these activities are all drop-in and cannot be pre-booked.
