This habitat includes a large climbing frame reaching up to 9 metres tall with a large glass window looking into their outdoor area. Barbary macaques are Europe’s only species of primate!

This area was previously used as an additional area for our African lions but has since been redeveloped to a space used by our barbary macaques.

You may notice that these macaques don’t have a tail! They have a seat bone and calluses on their bottom which is why they sleep upright!
